My name is Damien Duponcheele. I’m a 20 years old communication student and photographer.
After 5 years of practice, street, documentary and portrait photography are the disciplines I fell in love with. I believe that documenting what surrounds us, whether it’s right on our doorstep, in the streets or in another continent, is important to understand that beauty doesn’t only lie in extraordinary things but also and above all in the little things, especially in what builds our daily lives. Documentary photography allowed me to shape a hole different vision of the world and to appreciate and capture simplicity.
Portrait photography is completely different than documentary and that’s why I love it ! It’s a better way to communicate human emotions and feel even if we truly don’t. It allows us to use our imagination and creativity at a certain level, which is important for creative people. Switching between both disciplines allows me to shape a different glance and improve my vision.
I mainly work with film for documentary. Documenting with film gives the frame a certain timelessness and a physical presence. It makes the moment even more precious and unique. For professionnal work, I use both film and digital but primarely shoot digital to offer velocity, security and the highest quality possible to the client.
